Famke Maria Roozen Selected Work About & CV

ABOUT

Famke Maria Roozen (2001, Amsterdam) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, performance, moving image, and installation. Her practice explores identity as something fluid and continuously shaped through bodies, objects, and social space.

Central to her work is the relationship between the body and the structures that shape it. Through spatial installations, masks, and sculptural objects, she creates environments in which bodies can shift between roles, categories, and ways of being. Her work explores how identity, behaviour, and gender are shaped through movement, interaction, and the spaces around us.

Masks play a recurring role in her practice, not as a form of disguise, but as a way to question how identity is read, performed, and recognised. Working increasingly with metal, ceramics, and wearable objects, Roozen creates temporary worlds where boundaries between protection and restriction, performer and audience, body and object become less fixed.

Her work brings together sculpture, movement, sound, and moving image to create immersive environments that invite transformation and new ways of relating to space.
